Workshop in Najaf Province

CMC held at its office in Najaf on Thursday a workshop for TV and radio stations in the province to discuss a work  plan presented by the Commission to regulate media and clarify provisions of the station’s work.

The workshop focused on the necessity for TV and radio stations in the province to obtain a license in accordance with CMC’s regulations and provisions. Moreover, it clarified the mechanism used in granting licenses and the efforts CMC exerts to regulate media in the country through codes, regulations, and rules it sets out.

Representatives of the stations participated raised a number of questions which were answered by CMC officals.

The workshop, which was run by CMC’s branch Manager in the province Sanad Al-Abidi and the radio monitoring section official at CMC Mohammed Yahya, stated that opening an office in the province will contribute in building and promoting freedom of opinion and expression, and asserted that the Board of Commissioners and the executive management do their best to regulate media in Iraq.
