CMC Halts Scrambled Channels Re-Broadcasting Systems

May 6, 2012
CMC has decided to stop scrambled channels re-broadcasting network operators from working inside Iraq. The decision followed a meeting held at CMC headquarters on Sunday with representatives of these networks.
CMC has requested operators to halt operations and remove all towers starting on May 7th, 2012. CMC demanded operators as well to stop using the frequencies, since such frequencies are not allocated for them. Legal actions will be taken and a fine up to ID 100,000,000 will be imposed on violators.
CMC underlined that operators willing to provide such service must formally apply within 3 days to CMC specifying the type of service to be provided and the technical specifications besides getting tax clearance and media property rights.
Following the study of legal, financial and technical aspects of the application, CMC shall formally reply and inform applicants of their applications' status.
