Qatar to Host Connect Arab States Summit

Qatar's Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) is hosting Connect Arab States Summit, which attracts regional leaders from the public and private sectors, financial institutions and international and regional financing and development agencies.

The Summit, which will be held from 28 to 30 November 2011 in Doha, shall discuss various issues including creating a policy and regulatory environment and establishing national strategies to support investment in broadband ICT networks and services; building trust and security in ICT networks; transitioning from analogue to digital broadcasting; improving software affordability, stimulating Arab digital content; and developing local applications and services.

The Summit builds on the successful Connect Africa Summit held in Kigali, Rwanda in October 2007, and the Connect Commonwealth Independent States Summit held in Minsk, Belarus in November 2009.
