Within the framework of DU3M 2025 initiative and with the cooperation of Ministry of Higher Education, Ericsson Co. and ZainCo. CMC launched the “Internet of Things Competition” for Iraqi universities students in order to improve their skills and make them more capable of working in the public and private sectors.
CMC Chief Excusive Officer: (Dr. Ali Nasser Al-Khuwaildi) said during his speech that the competition will includedistinguished university students within the specialties of communications and information technology in order to engage them in training and development programs courses in the field of “Internet of Thing” issue. Ten of first students will be selected, and sent to Ericsson’s company headquarters in Sweden to attend advanced courses in communications, information technology, and devices manufacturing. Dr. Al-Khuwaildi pointed out that these programs came in line with market requirements and fill the gaps occurred between curriculum and the applicable field work.
Al-Khuwaildi expressed his hope that these programs will be repeated annually to urge students for creativity and creating jobs’ opportunities that help to eliminate the joblessness phenomenon. He referred that similar projects will be launched by Huawei and Nokia companies in cooperation with mobile phone companies.
Whereas (Dr. Ghassan Hamid) : Director of Studies and Research Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research confirmed the importance of this competition, which will make the academic reality associated with its practical counterpart, which will greatly allow university students to develop their skills on one hand and on the other make them more capable to enter and creative in their specialization fields .
In return, the Executive Director of Atheer Telecom- Iraq: “Mr. Ali Al- Zahid” clarified that these programs would contribute in developing the young abilities that could be useful in the work instead of incurring burdens of bringing expert cadres from abroad. He explained that increasing of human potential is an essential factor that every private enterprise worked with, in order to present best services of high quality.
The Executive Director of Ericsson company in Iraq: (Mr.Yusri Younis) clarified that development of Iraqi energies were important and obligation on every Iraqi who holds a position in a private company or public institution, because the Iraqi students have a lot of ideas that needed to be cared of and developed by the concerned authorities. He added that Ericsson Co. would undertake to train students and send the superior ones to Sweden attending intensive and special courses and will employ the distinguished students in the company, or in Atheer Co.
It is scheduled that workshops and competitions registration will be launched on 10th February 2019 in Baghdad and Al Nahrain universities, and will receive students from all government and private universities and colleges to choose the best and distinguished ones.
