Parliamentary Culture Media Committee Hosts CMC to Discuss Mutual Cooperation Prospects Strengthening its Regulatory and Supervisory Role
On Monday 22 th January 2019 the Parliamentary Culture
and Media Committee hosted CMC in its headquarters in the
Iraqi parliament.
The meeting was attended by Chairperson and members of
Culture, Media and Antiquities Committee in the parliament.
The meeting was chaired by the committee chairperson: Mrs.
Samea’a Al-Ghalab. CMC Chief Executive Officer and
Chairman and members of CMC Board of Commissioners
attended the meeting.
This meeting comes to strengthen the supervisory role of
Culture and Media Parliamentary Committee assignment to
ascertain the reality of ministries and commissions performance
that comes within the monitoring responsibility of committee’s
assignment.
The meeting was characterized by strengthening the
cooperation frameworks between the committee and CMC, to
support its independency as an independent commission and
backing up its organizational functions to develop
communications and Media sectors services.
Dr. Ali Al-Khuwaildi- CMC Chief Executive Officer
presented a comprehensive demonstration to the Committee’s
Chairperson and members. He explained CMC most prominent
assignments and its general policy to regulate communications
and media sectors and its administrative structure.
In return, Mr. Ashraf Al-Dahan: Chairman of CMC
Commissioners Council presented a review of the most
important functions carried out by Commissioners’ Council to
back up the method policy for organizing the two sectors and
their future prospects.
After that, Board of Commissioners Members presented
their comments about the prominent achievements implemented
by CMC in communications and media field, and highlighted
the challenges that need cooperation with the legislative
authority to be promoted.
Both parties agreed to put a framework to
strengthen the legislative side needed by CMC to enhance group
of supportive laws for its performance, and to put time limits for
implementing them according to their priorities.
Ms. Samia Al-Ghalab- Committee Chairperson praised
CMC achievements, focusing on communication importance
between them to promote and treating the challenges facing its
future work.
